About me

Hello! My name is KG, and I am a recent doctor of mathematics, graduating from the University of Virginia in 2026 after working under Ken Ono. Mathematically, I am interested in number theory, primarily integer partitions and modular forms. Technically, I am interested in proof assistants, programming language design, code golfing, and TI calculator tooling.

Uniting many of these interests, I’m currently a postdoctoral research scientist at NYU Tandon working as a part of Claudio Silva’s project under DARPA’s expMATH initiative, concerning tactful and ethical applications of AI assistants to research-level mathematics.

And I wish to be forthright about ethics: generative AI is an inimitable tool for human productivity and creativity, but one which has, unfortunately, been put almost exclusively to the tasks of underming human endeavors, exploiting workers across the economic ladder, accelerating the looming threats of climate change, surveillance states, and the collapse of the free market, and altogether being a real nuissance across all corners of the internet.

So, while I cautiously engage with generative AI in my current professional work, with perhaps lofty dreams of LLM harmony in the sciences and mathematics, all my previous creative work and other personal projects are zuzai, unless explicitly stated otherwise (for the bit). Such ventures of the academic variety can be found across the headers above. All my (open-source) code can be found on GitHub; I regularly contribute to projects under VIDA-NYU, TI Toolkit, and my personal page. I am also a core maintainer of the Rogers–Ramanujan–Slater Data Base.

I’ll also post to the blog from time to time, with the current smattering of posts mostly dedicated to “teensy problems”: little mathematical forays I’ve come up with in moments of boredom to share with friends. They’re intended to be approachable to anyone with an interest in mathematics or computer science, but may vary wildly in perceived difficulty.
